BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo has named Kathy Twist its interim athletic director as the school searches for a permanent successor to the departing Allen Greene.
Greene left UB to take the AD job at Auburn University last week. UB says it will launch a national search soon to find Greene’s replacement.
Twist previously served as UB’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration and Senior Woman Administrator since 2012. Before taking an administrative role, Twist led the UB women's tennis team for 16 years. She is the winningest coach in the program’s history with 136 career dual-match wins.
“I am grateful to Kathy for her willingness to serve in this important role in an interim capacity, and I extend my thanks and appreciation to Allen and the entire Athletics Department for their continuing commitment to our university’s vision of excellence,” UB President Satish K. Tripathi said in a statement. “Thanks in large part to Allen’s strong leadership, we are very well positioned to attract outstanding candidates in this national search."
Twist is a Buffalo native and a 1974 D’Youville graduate.
