Teens create video games at Queen City Jam

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Keyboards could be heard "tap-taping" for nearly 24 hours straight as more than 40 public school students learned first hand what it takes to create a video game Saturday.

The event that brought them all together: the Queen City High School Jam, one of the region's first high school video game jams. It was held at the Buffalo Game Space, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to expanding local game development located at 2495 Main Street, Buffalo, Suite 454.

Students worked tirelessly from Friday through 10 p.m. Saturday to make a video game while learning from experienced region developers.

The students were challenged to develop functional video games with an overarching theme of doing social good in 24 hours.

The Buffalo Game Space, InfoTech WNY, WNY STEM Hub and AT&T hosted the event.
