Students' frank conversation about school safety

On Wednesday, students across the nation will participate in National School Walkout Day. 2 On Your Side had a frank conversation with local students about school safety.

Students walked out of class at 10 a.m. Wednesday, for National School Walkout Day. The nationwide protest falls exactly one month after 17 people were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Organizers of the event say the mission is to bring attention to the growing issues of gun violence and overall safety in the classroom.

On Tuesday, 2 On Your Side's Scott Levin and Maryalice Demler sat down with five student members of the National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York. The students shared what they think needs to be done to keep schools safe.
