SHERMAN, NY--The driver of a Sherman Central school bus is credited with getting students safely off the vehicle Thursday morning shortly before it caught fire.
The district's Facebook page says the driver got the kids off the bus at the first sign of a problem. Students were then picked up and taken away from the scene by the time the bus became engulfed in flames.
The district thanked the driver, head of the bus garage and first responders from Stanley Hose for their quick work in dealing with Thursday morning's incident.
