BUFFALO, N.Y. - Monday marks a big day for Western New York. Not only is it "716 Day" but it's also National Blue Cheese Dressing Day.
If you recall, earlier this year, Frank's RedHot sent out a tweet claiming that the best side to enjoy wings with was ranch dressing. And the reaction from Buffalonians that Frank's received wasn't pretty.
With the help from the Wing King, Drew Cerza, blue cheese now has its' own national holiday - and naturally it falls on the day Western New York is celebrated with it's own calender day: July 16, or "716 Day."
There will be celebrations around the area to honor the first ever annual National Blue Cheese Day, including a blue illumination of the Electric Tower, wings specials at local restaurants, and the Bisons Blue Cheese mascot getting inducted into the Buffalo Wing Hall of Fame by the Wing King himself. Bringing ranch (or any non-perishable) to the gate will even get you buy-one-get-one tickets to Monday night's game.
So, on July 16, make sure you not only celebrate Western New York, but blue cheese dressing.
