Jet Fuel Spill at Buffalo Airport

When asked at a press conference, officials said the spilled fuel was contained in a nearby system that prevents it from going into the water system.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - A Prior Aviation fuel tanker crashed through a fence on Buffalo Airport property Friday morning, spilling about 2,000 gallons of fuel, according to the NFTA.

A large portion of Genesse Street was closed off during the morning commute. No injuries were reported.

When asked at a press conference, officials said the spilled fuel was contained in a nearby system that prevents it from going into the water system.

Weather is being considered a possible cause of the accident, including some strong winds that were whipping all Friday morning.

The fuel tanker has been removed from the scene. The sand that was used to soak up some of the fuel will be shipped out and the security fence will be restored.
