Weaver St. toddler died from blunt force trauma

The Erie County Medical Examiner has determined a two-year-old boy from Kaisertown died from blunt force trauma.

BUFFALO, NY - Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says an autopsy shows a Kaisertown toddler died from blunt force trauma.

A 23-year-old Buffalo man is in custody in connection with the death.

Buffalo Police say officers responded to the call just before 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the first block of Weaver Street.

It is alleged that Bashar Hall, 23, of Buffalo, shook and beat the child, who was taken to Children's hospital and died shortly after arrival. He's charged with manslaughter, but the D.A. has left open the possibility of upgrading that charge to murder.

The child was Hall's girlfriend's, but DA Flynn says Hall had two children of his own living with him: a 2-month-old and a 1-year-old. The ongoing investigation will look into whether there was any abuse to those children.

Hall is in jail on $500,000 bail and will appear for a felony hearing on July 23, where he faces a maximum of 25 years behind bars.

A second person will be arraigned Friday morning in connection with the death of the toddler, authorities tell 2 On Your Side. We will update this story when more becomes available.
